Cllrs Martin Potter and Kirstine Carr have announced they are standing down in May 2023

Rainham North Conservative announced that their sitting Councillors Martin Potter and Kirstine Carr are not seeking reselection at the local elections to be held on 4th May 2023.

Martin Potter added "It's a special honour to represent the place where you've grown up and it's been a privilege to serve as councillor for my community alongside David and then Kirstine over the last eight years. Following the sudden loss of my Dad I reflected a lot on my future and decided to make the most of this current term, but I need to focus more time on my professional career and life away from being on the council. I am grateful to my family, friends and colleagues for their support and advice, and for keeping the matter private over a lengthy period which gave me the space to fully reflect."

Kirstine Carr stated "I will be retiring after a long association with Rainham North Ward, firstly supporting my late husband David as councillor and then as a councillor myself for the last four years. I have enjoyed being able to carry on from David and working with Martin to serve the people of Rainham North to the best of my ability. I was honoured to serve as Deputy Mayor of Medway for the years 2021 and 2022, celebrating and showcasing all that is great and good about Medway".
